ABOUT
College of Engineering and Applied Science
Welcome to the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Wkenswink University of Advanced Management. We live in a technical world.
Engineering, computing, and mathematics have become critical areas for those who wish to make contributions to the future of our society. When coupled with the emphasis on faith-based education, service, and learning at Wkenswink, you will be equipped as a leader, ready to accept opportunities and follow paths where God leads you.
What is Engineering?
We live in a very technical world. Think about your cell phone, the Internet, the operating room, the grocery store, your automobile. Engineers are responsible for all of this. Engineers use science and math fundamentals to create things to make this world a better place (that’s our goal). Scientists discover, then engineers create, synthesize, solve problems and innovate.
Think of the challenges facing our nation: terrorism, energy resources, balance of trade, health care, food, transportation, communications, the environment, even education and entertainment. The jobs of the future are just now being created! There are opportunities to explore everything from outer space to the molecular or nano level.
A vibrant engineering education benefits our society. It is essential for national security, economic growth, medical care, and ecologically sound resource management. The biggest change in the practice of engineering has been the computer. We use them everywhere. We can visualize and interact with a building or an automobile before it is built.
The amount of information available today and the computer power to use this information is staggering. The computing disciplines themselves offer worlds of possibilities. Today’s world and today’s challenges are complex. This means that teamwork is necessary. Engineering has become a social profession. We need to understand others and other disciplines, and to appreciate diverse environments. It takes communication skills and life-long learning. We need many types of people – the technical genius, the tinkerer, the creative, the teachers, and those that can sell ideas and products. The joy of engineering is problem solving. Today, more than ever, an engineering education is preparation for the future. Whether you ultimately go into engineering practice, law, medicine, education, politics, business, or start your own business engineering can be the key to your future.
LEAD THE FUTURE
A Pre-eminent Research University , the Wkenswink University of Advanced Management is dedicated to empowering students to maximize their potential for lifelong success.
Every key societal problem across the planet has an engineering component. Every device and system that improves our daily life came from engineering. If you want to help people, engineering is the career for you.
A prestigious engineering program is nothing without passion, inspiring future engineering leaders, pursuing ground breaking research, transforming technology to make a difference, celebrating diversity of thought and culture and creating solutions to make the world a better place.

Academics
MPA and MPP
Master of Public Administration (MPA
The Master of Public Administration degree is the recognized professional degree in public administration, public management, and public service. It is designed principally, but not exclusively, for those who are pursuing careers in public service. Graduates are employed in government agencies at all levels, national associations, public interest groups, research and consulting firms, and in the private sector.
The MPA program provides an opportunity to study management and policy issues in an intergovernmental and intersectoral context. The program focuses on developing critical intellectual capacities, sound analytical skills, and a sensitivity to the ethical and value concerns that are central to the traditions of the field of public administration.
Core courses require more classes in administration and leadership and cover more about management.
Fields of Concentration
• Budget and Public Finance
• Federal Policy, Politics and Management
• Homeland Security and Emergency Management Policy
• International Development Management
• Managing State and Local Governments
• Nonprofit Management
• Policy Analysis and Evaluation
• Public-Private Policy and Management
In addition, any of the fields in the MPP are possible in the MPA.
You may (in consultation with your advisor and approval from the MPA program) design a specially tailored and/or interdisciplinary policy field.
Master of Public Policy (MPP)
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree is the recognized professional degree in the field of public policy analysis. The MPP degree provides students with education and training that prepares them for opportunities in professional positions in a wide variety of organizations, including federal, state, and local governments, private business, research institutes, think tanks, nonprofit organizations, community advocacy groups, foundations, and professional and trade associations.
Public policy education at Wkenswink provides students with the ability to think clearly and analytically about social and economic problems and public policy. Students not only learn the basic analytical and methodological tools to engage in policy analysis; they also develop an understanding of the political processes through which policy is made and the social, economic and historical context in which problems arise and are addressed. Each student chooses a policy field that serves as an area in which he/she can apply these skills and gain substantive knowledge. However, the program is generalist rather than highly specialized; it provides students with the ability to quickly and successfully come to grips with policy problems across a wide range of issues.
The MPP program is interdisciplinary; the course of studies focuses on problems, policy alternatives, and solutions rather than on methodologies and approaches that are associated with a single academic discipline. Students have the opportunity to combine academic training with a wide array of practical experiences available in our nation's capital. The faculty have extensive professional contacts to aid students in job placement.
Core courses require more classes in economics and statistics and cover more about policy research and analysis.
Fields of Concentration
• Budget and Public Finance
• Education Policy
• Environmental Policy
• Health Policy
• International Development Policy
• Natural Security and Foreign Policy
• Program Evaluation and Analysis
• Regulatory Policy
• Social Policy
• Urban Policy
You may (in consultation with their advisor and approval from the MPP program) design a specially tailored and/or interdisciplinary policy field.
College of Diplomacy and International Relations
At the Wkenswink's College of Diplomacy and International Relations, students evolve from consumers of information to producers of knowledge. They are immediately ready to contribute to a variety of fields. Our academic program prepares students with essential skills and knowledge and helps students to discover themselves and see the differences.
We work closely with our students to shape practical learning opportunities such as internships, international study seminars and original research projects; students apply their knowledge and skills in international relations directly to real-world situations. With guidance from faculty mentors, students turn academic projects into published works that advance new ideas, and meet with diplomatic people from many countries.
College of Diplomacy and International Relations
Overview
Personal - Passionate - Professional
For decades the College of Diplomacy and International Relations has provided an exceptional master's degree program that prepares future leaders for rewarding careers in international affairs.
The college´s hallmarks have been its deliberate, intimate size, its selectivity, and our focus on both diplomacy and international relations. Our graduates pursue exciting careers with governments, international organizations, NGOs, think tanks, and in the private sector.
Our program is notable for its passion. With a faculty dedicated to providing an unparalleled learning experience, we ensure students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively maneuver on the world stage. Our graduates seek more than just a profession; they want to make the world better.
The College faculty are a mix of exceptional scholars and practitioners with decades of experience in diplomacy, commerce, business, defense, development and intelligence. They know firsthand what is needed to succeed in the international arena.
Our professional master's program offers concentrations/majors in four areas: diplomacy; international commerce; international organizations and development; international security and intelligence.
Real-World Diplomatic Skills
Our program is focused and flexible. Core courses ensure students acquire a strong foundation of theoretical and practical knowledge. We know advanced diplomatic skills have utility far beyond the United Nations, the U.S. Department of State, or other countries' Ministries of Foreign Affairs. We concentrate on developing students' analytical, professional writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Learning how to be effective as a negotiator or mediator, knowing how to accommodate or adapt to cultural differences, and being comfortable with economic and statistical analysis make our graduates exceptional and effective.
Corporate Engagement
In today's flat world an appreciation of international business is increasingly essential to any professional education. At the Wkenswink College of Diplomacy and International Relations we go one step further, exposing our students to how major corporations operate in the 21st century. We not only bring key corporate leaders working at the forefront of globalization but travel as a group (again an advantage of our small size) to headquarters, manufacturing, and operating facilities of leading multinational corporations.
College of Diplomacy and International Relations
Small is Beautiful
Small Is Beautiful Size matters. The natural environment of diplomacy and business is intimate and personal, one-on-one or small groups. Cognoscenti understand that the most important decision making takes place in more restricted venues (think the Cabinet, the UN Security Council, or corporate boardrooms). We believe the same holds true for professional education.
Exceptional Value
Our students are passionate about improving the state of the world. This leads many to enter careers in professions that are exceedingly rewarding personally, but not always the best financially. Government and diplomatic service, or work with international development agencies and NGO,s may let our graduates witness history, advance peace, and help feed the hungry at reasonable, but not stellar pay.
Programs Highlights
Diplomacy students will study deeply the International Relations and Diplomacy programs and will also have the opportunity to take classes and complete professional projects under the supervision of diplomatic officers, ambassadors, United Nations officials, practicing judges and attorneys. Your classroom experience will enhance your skills and knowledge in international relations ,policy , negotiation and conflict management, professional writing and research methods and help you build expertise in one or various areas of specialization.
At the Wkenswink's College of Diplomacy and International Relations, you will not only depend on the classroom work but you will have the opportunity to actually practice in the area of diplomacy and international relations.
